MARIETTA — There were several upsets across Cobb County in Tuesday's elections as incumbents in Mableton, Austell and Acworth were unseated.
Two Mableton council members, Dami Oladapo and Patricia Auch, lost their reelection bids, as did Austell Councilwoman Meredith Adams.
Acworth Alderman Tim Richardson, who has served for more than 25 years, also came up short.
An open seat Kennesaw was too close to call, with two candidates by less than 1%.
Results are not official until certified by the Cobb Board of Elections on Nov. 10.
Acworth
Over in Acworth, business owner Kimberly Haase defeated Post 4 Alderman Tim Richardson, who has served on the board since 1998.
With 100% of the city’s precincts reporting, Haase had garnered 1,776, or 55.5%, of the vote, to Richardson’s 1,422.
Both Mayor Tommy Allegood and Post 5 alderman Tim Houston ran unopposed and were reelected. Allegood has served as mayor since 2002, and Houston as alderman since 2004.
